5/22/12 DIY Ombre Button Down

1. Take an old shirt or thrift a shirt you want to ombre! We got this shirt at a Goodwill!
2. Fill a bucket with water.
3. Mix in bleach according to directions on bottle.
4. Wet the bottom of your button down.
5. Dip the bottom of your button down into the bleach and let sit.
6. And wait.
7. Wait.
8. Make sure only the bottom is in the bleach solution.
9. When satisfied with results, rinse bleached area with water until all the bleach is out.
10. Wash by hand with detergent solution.
11. Hang dry or use dryer.
12. Wear stylish new ombre shirt! -like a baws ;)
Something awesome about this shirt is that the blue stripes didn't bleach out! Only the grey was washed away from the bleach. I think the button down came out pretty well for our first try. Things NOT to do that we learned from doing this; make sure you do not throw the freshly bleached shirt into the washing machine to keep the bleach from blotching other parts of the shirt. Also, make sure you thoroughly wet the area you want to ombre so the bleach slowly climbs its way up the shirt. Overall, this was loads of fun doing with my friend and heck, it is a rad shirt!

5/14/12 Spring Bloom

Chris took these pictures for one of his photo classes. They turned out really well! I love how the flowers have a little brown spotting from imperfection of nature. Also, I like how the clouds are visible in his vintage Ray-Ban sunglasses and of course the model it alright. ;)

5/13/12 DIY Scalloped Shorts

 1. Take a pair of trousers or pants that you are willing to cut. I got these high waisted trousers at a thrift store for Halloween but never wore them since.
 2. Fold trousers over to make an even cut across. I a long line before hand so I would know to cut a little bellow.
3. Take a ruler or measuring tape to measure how long each scallop will be and mark how ever long you desire.
4.Draw out your scallops.
5. First pin, then cut your marked scallops.
6. VERY IMPORTANT STEP!!! Take the time to clean up your work area before you start sewing! ;)
7. Find the desired thread colors.
8. Use a zig zag stitch across the bottom of your scallops so that your shorts will not fray.
9. If you have a soldering iron with a flat head, rub against the sewn edges to melt down any fray. This is optional but it looks professional in the long run.
10. Show off your adorable mod scalloped shorts!
Pst! I love my new Dolce Vita heels! :3

5/12/12 Rain, Rain Come Some Day

Being a rebel by defying the red sign.

My adorable new rain boots! Yes, I know it looks like it is sunny outside. That's because it is. The weather report lied to me that day. I was stoked to wear my rain boots for the second time but it ended up being a hot sunny day. Nonetheless, I was still stoked because I love these babies! This outfit is so comfy, simple, and effective. ;) Got on my Ray-Bans, a plain dark magenta long sleeve from Target, my turquoise watch(gift), beanie from a mall vendor, Express wishbone necklace, quilted grey purse as well as my Palladiam sunny yellow and white rain boots from PLNDR. <3

5/9/12 Ear Piercing and Flight Attendant OOTD

^Pierced Ear!
Finally! I got my right ear pierced after 8 years of only having my left ear pierced! My dad surprised me with these gorgeous pink opal swirled earrings that I am going to wear to prom. Prom! Prom is next week and I've been procrastinating on making my dress. So after this post I am going to jump right on that! Anyway, here is my sophisticated and cute outfit of the day! I have on a thrifted dollar embroidered(hard to see in pictures) button down top with a black and white polka dotted sheer scarf(from a random store in LA) made into a tie wrapped around my collar, short light denim shorts, my retro hole patterned chucks, silver ring from Mexico, and Ray-Ban wayfarer glasses! My boyfriend joked around with me and said that I looked kind of like a flight attendant today. <3

5/7/12 Salton Sea Photo Diary

Luis and I on a couch we found in the sea.
Make yourself at home. ;)

Fish skeletons cover the ground with which it is made of.

My homeboy Luis!
Luis, Brian, and I were watching the tube.

Photography by the wonderful Ray Nikpour and Patrick!

Background story! Okay so my friend Ray is competing in an environmental video contest and I was his actress! We took about a three hour road trip out to the Salton Sea in Palm Springs during the weekend of Coachella (It's funny cause we went to Coachella without actually going to it hehe). After we arrived to an abandoned community, getting out of that car literally took my breath away. The air was no longer inhale-able burning my throat and noise with each breath of stinging pure salt. Anyway, after getting over the air and extreme heat we wandered the area and took the video. Did I mention there was no sand on that beach? The white sandy looking stuff surrounding the brown water is actually entirely made up of crushed fish bones and dead barnacles. NO LIE! Nevertheless, I cannot wait to see the final video though by Ray because I think the trip was so worth the apocalyptic scenery and the fact that I had a blast with my friends. <3
